Vera Violet Pruden, age 96, of Parkers Prairie, died on Tuesday, February 12, 2019, at St. William’s Living Center in Parkers Prairie.
A memorial service will be held 2 p.m., Tuesday, February 19, 2019, at St. William’s Living Center Chapel in Parkers Prairie with Rev. Rachel Stout officiating. Music will be provided by soloist, Arlo Peterson. Private interment will take place at Hillcrest Cemetery in Kent, Washington.
A visitation will take place one hour prior to the service at St. William’s Living Center Chapel.
Vera was born on August 10, 1922, to John and Hannah (Olson) Aldrich in Almora, Minnesota. She was baptized in South Dakota at her uncle’s home and confirmed at Elmo Lutheran Church in rural Parkers Prairie. In May of 1940, Vera moved with her family to Kent, Washington and graduated from Meridian High School in 1942. Following her education, she worked in a factory during WWII, for two years. She was united in marriage to Lyle A. Pruden on April 15, 1944, at Kent Lutheran Church. Following their marriage, Vera worked as a housekeeper cleaning private homes. She was also a homemaker and raised her family in Kent. Her husband died on September 18, 1988. Vera continued living in Kent until returning to Almora in 1997. She lived in McCornell Courts Assisted Living for many years. She was a member of Elmo Lutheran Church, Washington State Grange, National Grange, Meridian Grange #265, American Legion Auxiliary and TOPS for 17 years. She was a former member of the Eagles. Her hobbies included walking along the beach at the ocean, fishing, hiking, camping, backpacking and traveling.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Lyle; two brothers, Alvy Aldrich and Millard Aldrich; and sister, Eloise Dupper.
Vera is survived by her son, Lloyd (Lera) Pruden of Graham, Washington; daughter, Tammy Pruden of Wadena; brother-in-law, Marvin Dupper of Tenino, Washington; along with several nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.
Memorials may be directed to Elmo Lutheran Church.
