Mark was born on January 24, 1955, to George and Fay (Zarbok) Hoium in Glenwood. He grew up on the family farm in Villard. He loved farming and working outside in his yard, and he had a great eye for detail.
His love for wildlife, including birds, squirrels, and other creatures, was unparalleled. He always made sure they had food and water. Mark had a special place in his heart for his cats and any strays that would come by. He wanted nothing to go hungry.
Mark loved life and always had a friendly “hi” for passersby. He always made time to stop and talk to anyone. He will be missed by many.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Lonnie Hoium; and parents-in-law, Bill and Elaine Terfehr.
Mark is survived by his wife, Rosalie; son, Michael (Toni) Velde; stepchildren, Dustin (Becky) Speed, Amanda (Brian) Rolf, and Tonya Karels; three grandchildren; six step-grandchildren and one on the way in June; sister, Melody Faber; sister-in-law, Lorraine Hausmann; uncle and aunt, Curtis and Margaret Hoium; beloved cat, Boots; along with many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, and friends.
