Marie Olson, age 77, of Parkers Prairie, died Friday, October 2, 2009, at St. Michael's Nursing Home in Sauk Centre, Minnesota.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m., Wednesday, October 7, 2009, at First Evangelical Lutheran Church with Rev. Jon Sorum officiating. Music will be provided by organist, Julie Lindgren. Burial will take place at Parkers Prairie Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m., Tuesday at Lind Family Funeral Home in Parkers Prairie and continue one hour prior to the service at the church.

Marie Olson was born November 27, 1931, to William and Florence (Moe) Doran in Mahnomen, Minnesota. She attended grade school in Mahnomen before moving with her family to St. Ann and Donovan, Illinois for a short time. They also lived in Wolverton, Minnesota and Fargo, North Dakota during her years of growing up. She was united in marriage to Clifford T. Olson on July 22, 1948, in Big Stone City, South Dakota. Following their marriage they lived in Alexandria, Minnesota, Fargo and Kankakee, Illinois before moving to Parkers Prairie to a farm south of town in 1956. She and her husband farmed until retiring in 1987. Her husband, Clifford died in 2000. Marie moved to live with her granddaughter in Sauk Centre in the fall of 2007 before moving into St. Michael's Nursing Home in the spring of 2008. Marie enjoyed being outdoors, fishing, hunting, vegetable and flower gardening, birds, sewing, crocheting, knitting and quilting. She loved to travel and was a collector of many items. She loved to help people and volunteered at the Senior Center in Parkers Prairie. Her family was very important to her and she was especially fond of times spent with her grandchildren.
Marie is survived by three sons, Clifford (Wendy) Olson, Jr., of Echo Valley, Minnesota, Dean (Donna) Olson of Sauk Centre and Nels (Becky) Olson of Parkers Prairie; two daughters, Karen (Ed) Dimmick of Crivetz, Wisconsin and Julia Olson of Parkers Prairie; a brother, William (Roberta) Doran of Kankakee, Illinois; a sister, Celia (Murill) Calbert of Kankakee, Illinois; 14 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren and 12 great-great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband and son, James Oscar Olson in 1987.
Pallbearers will be Tim Turner, Derek Olson, James Olson, Jr., Robert Lee Olson, Marty Wiebye and Joel Wilke. Honorary pallbearers will be Floyd Olson, John Avery, Keith Avery, Steven Avery, Joseph H. Olson, Gordon Drum, Duane Stende, Dennis Stende and Donald Tippie.
