LeRoy H. Gulbranson, age 75, of Farwell, passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 27, 2020, at Bethany on the Lake in Alexandria.
A private family funeral service will be 11 a.m., Monday, January 4, 2021, at Lind Family Funeral Home in Alexandria with Rev. Ben Jacobson officiating. Music will be provided by Sara Severson and Brian Chlian. The service will be live streamed at https://www.lindfamilyfh.com/obituary/LeRoy-Gulbranson. Private family interment will take place at the Van Loon Cemetery, rural Farwell.
A public visitation will be held 3-5 p.m., Sunday at Lind Family Funeral Home in Alexandria honoring all Covid mandates. The visitation will continue one hour prior to the service.
LeRoy was born on June 17, 1945, to Elvin and Myrtle (Vee) Gulbranson in Alexandria. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith at Trysil Lutheran Church in rural Farwell. He graduated from Jefferson High School in 1963. LeRoy worked on the farm alongside his family and had several other jobs. LeRoy was united in marriage to Rochelle Bonde on June 26, 1965, at Granite Falls Lutheran Church. He started work as a welder for Bellanca Aircraft in Alexandria, where he worked until they closed. He then started working at Douglas Machine, where he worked as a project manager until he retired in 2010. He was a member of First Lutheran Church. Some of his hobbies were hunting, fishing, snowmobiling, and getting together with friends for coffee. He especially enjoyed getting together with family at the cabin for duck hunting or a picnic, was one of his favorites. LeRoy was so proud of his collection of Polaris snowmobiles, his John Deeres, and his yellow 1972 Volkswagon Beetle which he restored.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Mandt and Mathilda Gulbranson and Oscar and Anne Vee; and parents, Elvin and Myrtle Gulbranson.
LeRoy is survived by his wife of 55 years, Rochelle; daughter, Yolanda (Terry) Novak of Fordville, North Dakota; son, Clinton (Cyndi) Gulbranson of Lowry; six grandchildren, Breanna (Nathan) Brintnell of Fordville, North Dakota, Blaine Novak of Fargo, North Dakota, Brogan Novak of Grand Forks, North Dakota, Bryce Novak of Lankin, North Dakota, Erica Gulbranson of Fargo, North Dakota and Evan Gulbranson of Grand Rapids, Minnesota; four great-grandchildren; siblings, Elaine Josephson of Clitherall, Dennis Gulbranson of Garfield, Orris (Chris) Gulbranson of Lowry, and Donna (Bob) Majerus of Villard; brother-in-law, Duane (Lois) Bonde of Alexandria; sister-in-law, Doreen (Bill) Miller of Granite Falls; along with several nieces and nephews.
