A. Ialeen Hiltner, age 83, of Alexandria passed away peacefully on Friday, November 3, 2023, at the Alomere Health Hospital in Alexandria.
A time of gathering to celebrate Ialeen will take place from 11-1 p.m., Friday, September 27, 2024, at Lind Family Funeral Home in Alexandria. Interment will be at the Zunker Cemetery in Carlos.
Agnes Ialeen was born on October 8, 1940, to Samuel and Ruby (Suter) Spidle in Breckenridge, Missouri. She was the youngest of eight children and was raised in Breckenridge. Ialeen graduated from Breckenridge High School in 1959 and continued her education at Columbia University, graduating in 1963 with a Bachelor of Science degree. She married Eric Enberg, and together they had two sons, Eric Jr. and Nels. The family moved to Alexandria, where they made their home. Ialeen was actively involved in her church and dedicated herself to raising their boys. In 1990, she returned to school and earned her Master's degree in Psychology from St. Mary's University. She began practicing in-home therapy, helping numerous patients through Douglas County Social Services for over 10 years. On September 27, 2002, she married Ruben Hiltner at Calvary Lutheran Church in Alexandria. After retiring in 2006, Ialeen continued to enjoy spending time outdoors and tending to her garden. She took particular pleasure in caring for the trees she had planted years earlier, carefully pruning each one and starting the process over when she had finished. Ialeen also loved traveling, especially visiting her sons in their respective homes and spending time with her grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents; and siblings, Floyd, Virgil, Harold, Daryl, Dan, and Lucille.
Ialeen is survived by her husband of 21 years, Ruben Hiltner of Alexandria; children, Eric (Tami) Charles Jr. Enberg of Hermantown, Nels (Alycia) Enberg of Morris, Andrew (Jenny) Hiltner of Skandia, and Angela (Craig Graham) Hiltner of Brooklyn Park; sister, Maxine Lewis of Rocky Ford, Colorado; 17 grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
