She attended grade school in St Michael at the Catholic School then high school at St Francis Boarding School in Little Falls. Following graduation, she began working in the Twin Cities. At the age of 19, she met Roger Dummer. With help of friends, they were able to make their long-distance relationship work while she lived in St Michael and Roger lived in Bird Island. Roger was drafted into the Army; prior to his deployment, they were engaged to be married in December of 1953. They were married in St Michael at St Michaels Catholic Church on August 13, 1955. She and Roger had four children. They began their married life in Gibbon; later moving to St Charles; and then to Hutchinson. Since 1972, they owned a cabin on Lake Carlos and in recent years Carlos has been their home.
Donna worked most of her adult life out of the home as well as being a homemaker. She retired from 3M after almost 27 years of employment. Donna was always a hard worker, giving of herself. She was compassionate and cared about others. Donna loved shopping, walking, exercising and most of all visits with family and friends. She always had something to say and could talk with almost anyone. She loved to walk outside. While on her daily walks, she usually found someone to visit with. She belonged to the local health club during winter weather. She loved to shop and could spend hours at the local mall and could always find a good bargain. She had a shared interest with her husband in collecting and refinishing antiques many displayed in their home. She loved to travel. She traveled with Roger on multiple bus tours, cruises, internationally and multiple trips to Hawaii. She has been a devote Catholic her entire life and often shared her love of Jesus and Mary.
