DiAnn C. Olson, age 82, of Grand Forks, North Dakota, formerly Brandon, died peacefully surrounded by family on Sunday, February 23, 2025, at her daughter’s home in Grand Forks.
A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, February 26, 2025, at the Parkers Prairie Cemetery.
DiAnn Colleen was born on October 26, 1942, to Arthur and Norma (Grothen) Uhde at her family’s home in Miltona Township. She was baptized at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in West Miltona on November 22, 1942, and confirmed there in May 1956. She attended Country School District 73 and graduated from Parkers Prairie High School in 1960. During her working career she worked at Pearl Jobbing and Garden Center Lanes in Alexandria, eventually retiring from 3M in 2002.
DiAnn was united in marriage to Raymond “Ray” Olson on August 17, 1963, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in West Miltona and to this union, two daughters were born. The couple lived in Alexandria, the Twin Cities area, and Garfield before finally making their home in Brandon. Ray died in 2019, and DiAnn continued making her home in Brandon. In November 2023, she moved in with her daughter, Carla, due to her declining health. While living with her daughter, she cherished the extra time with family and enjoyed engaging with the children at Carla’s daycare. She also treasured her cats and her Chihuahua, Tiny, and enjoyed completing word searches and reading.
She was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Henry and Anna Uhde; maternal grandparents, Otto and Clara Grothen; parents; husband; brothers, David and Gary Uhde; and granddaughter DiAnn Plautz.
DiAnn is survived by her daughters, Lisa (Paul) Casserly of Fischer and Carla (Richard) Hudson of Grand Forks, North Dakota; brother Gail (Vickie) Uhde of Alexandria; sister Sandy Froemming of Miltona; four grandsons, Nicholas (Samantha) Hudson, James Casserly, Jonathon Casserly, and Patrick Casserly; two granddaughters, Emily (Bradley) Schauer and Shealynn Casserly; a great-grandson on the way; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, and uncles.
Pallbearers are Richard Hudson, Nicholas Hudson, and Bradley Schauer.
