Arlys G. Hendrickson
Arlys Geraldine Hendrickson, age 83, of Alexandria, MN, unexpectedly left this earth to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, January 3, 2022, resulting from an auto accident.
A celebration of her life will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, April 23, 2022, at the Alexandria Covenant Church in Alexandria.
Arlys was born on June 16, 1938, to Arvin & Gertrude (Lockrem) Hanson in Clearbrook, Minnesota. Her family then moved to Thief River Falls, Minnesota where she attended Lincoln High School and met her high school sweetheart, Jerry (Jerald) Hendrickson. Jerry and Arlys were married, made their home, and raised their family in Thief River Falls. In 1992, Jerry and Arlys moved to Alexandria, Minnesota. They had 65 beautiful years together up until Jerry’s passing on September 4, 2021. Together they created a close-knit family, owned businesses, enjoyed traveling, and formed lifelong friendships.
Arlys was very loving and compassionate. She was a great listener and cared deeply for her family and friends. Most importantly, she had a strong faith in Jesus and was a firm believer in the power of prayer. She had an eye for creativity and owned two gift shops: Home Sweet Home in Thief River Falls, and Sweet Seasons in Alexandria. She was also a talented seamstress & quilter and enjoyed making beautiful gifts for her loved ones.
Arlys and Jerry were members of Alexandria Covenant Church, where they met many dear friends. They also enjoyed spending winters in warmer climates, often joined by family and friends. Arlys was a cherished wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was loved by many and will be dearly missed.
Arlys was preceded in death by her husband, Jerry, her parents; her sister, Ruth Weckwerth; and infant daughter, Lori.
She is survived her three children, Kristi (Randy) Mikkelson of Plymouth, MN, Jeff (Nancy) Hendrickson of Bemidji, MN, and Nancy (Pete) Friedrichsen of Andover, MN; six grandchildren, Carisa Hendrickson, Brett (Kimberly) Mikkelson, Cami (Keith) Eckhoff, Jenna (Matt) Griffith, Joseph Friedrichsen, and Garret Friedrichsen; four great-grandsons, Tyson, Bennett, Graham, & Miles Eckhoff; her sister, Judy Ahern, and one brother, David Hanson; as well as many nieces, nephews, relatives, and dear friends.
Dear Jeff and Nancy, our prayers as you celebrate the beautiful life of your mom, Jeff. We are sorry to learn of the death of your dad in September, Jeff. Our parents are so treasured by us, and your memories will be special and a gift in the years to come. Hugs and prayers.

I met Arlys years ago when she had Sweet Seasons. What a beautiful soul and a very "sweet" person. Her faith made her a very special lady and she will be missed by all that knew her.
